ito ang THE ULTIMATE ILOCOS FOOD TOUR na joke! =D
it's a joke kasi we only had 4 hours to spare because of a
girl's curfew issues (hint: not me)
with bakasyonistas Lutz and Mackie aka "The Amazing Twins"
organized by moi =P
note: still with jetlag
FIRST STOP: Saramsam Cafe
4:00-5:00 PM
Saramsam Cafe's new and improved menu
Saramsam Cafe is officially my favorite resto in the city (at least so far)..
i love its homey interior, service and unique menu..
i've been here many times before but everytime i come back there's always
something new and different to try..
the food they serve is always fresh and tastes very Ilocano..
Lutz and Mackie checking out the food and taking pictures ala tourists
i wanted to try their famous Pinakbet Pizza but Mackie does not like veggies very much
so we had Chicken Pesto Pizza instead..the serving was good enough for 4-5 people
with 8 slices of pizza..not surprisingly though, we finished everything.. =)
Lutz and her slice of Chicken Pesto Pizza
it was really good and we were hungry.. =D
all in all (pizza and wrapped sampalok) we spent Php 210..
SECOND STOP: Formosa Grille
5:00-6:00 PM
like the Amazing Twins, this was my first time to dine at Formosa Grille..
located along Bacarra Road, this resto is open from 4pm til 4am (if i'm not mistaken)..
it's not air-conditioned and be prepared to hear loud music and loud people..
i heard it is now a famous tambayan among people who live downtown..

photo with our Grilled Tuna Belly BEFORE..
some friends were telling me to try their Sinigang na Tuna but we were not in the
mood for that so we had Grilled Tuna Belly Instead..
too bad it's not open at lunchtime when i'm always looking for fish dishes as yummy as this..
paintings on the orange walls inside Formosa Grille
..and AFTER!
i have only tried this one dish but it is enough to want to go back to Formosa Grille..
it's even better than the ones i've tried at more expensive hang-outs in M.Manila..
for the price of Php 180, 3 people can share and enjoy
fresh-from-the-sea tuna cooked to perfection..
trust me, you'll love this too!..we spent (with 1 rice) Php 193
THIRD STOP: Eagle's Nest at Java Hotel
6:00-7:00 PM
a very halloween-y Java Hotel and entrance to Eagle's Nest
now this was the "real" dinner part in our food tour!..
Mackie was craving for babyback ribs and i recommended Eagle's Nest, another one of my personal favorite places to eat in Laoag..
Lutz' baby and the Babyback Ribs
thank God it wasn't raining that night and we were able to enjoy the food and ambiance the resto has to offer..it is much more laid-back here with its good music, candles and, my favorite touch of them all, we got to dine under the stars..
the stars dining under the stars =P
it's really an ideal setting for conversations and laughs over good food and a bottle of beer..
total cost: Grilled Babyback Ribs at Eagle's Nest (plus 3 bottles San Mig Light) Php 400++
FOURTH STOP: TriBeca at 365 Plaza
7:00-8:00 PM
after ingesting all of the meat, oil and fat, it was time for a dessert and hot drinks..
a heavenly slice of BTS (Better Than Sex) at TriBeca was all we needed to have
the sweetest finale to a day's resto hopping..
an all-time fave at TriBeca -- BTS!
cappuccino, hot chocolate and BTS at Tribeca were about Php 300..
------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
this was my first attempt at organizing an Ilocos Food Tour..
can you just imagine what i can come up with if we weren't time pressured? hehe..
this was a good way to enjoy Ilocos, bond with friends, and appreciate all the flavors and sights made for foody friends like us..
i love reconnecting with friends though food!
i love Ilocos and its many restos!
i love fresh fish! (i'm a fish freak)
i love, love, love affordable and yummy food!
No doubt, the 3 of us felt the greatness of God through this experience..
til next time, Lutz and Mackie!
THE ULTIMATE ILOCOS FOOD TOUR Part II is happening next month!
(i hope)
